Great Face Cleanser,
In essence, the Wave is a pore cleaner that works by gently vibrating your skin to shake loose the contents of your pores. This is NOT meant to be an exfoliator or toner. It does its job exceedingly well, which surprised me. I have tested many, many skin care products over the years, and was quite cynical about this one working. Really, it does.
First, the theory. Your face is full of pores – i.e. holes that go downward into your skin. Dirt, sweat, make-up and other junk gets stuck in those holes. That is what forms blemishes. The more dirt and such you have in your pores, the more they are “pushed open” and the bigger they look. Keeping them as clean as possible also makes them as small as possible, so your skin has a smoother overall look.
This small handheld device lets you attach a pad to the face of it, then you moisten that pad to get the soap going. It isn’t a “big foaming” soap, it’s a very subtle one. Again, the aim is not to cover your face with foam. It’s for the vibrations to get the small amount of gentle foam down into your pores. Pores are small
You hold that vibration on one spot, to vibrate open the pores beneath the device. You don’t want to “drag” the wave, like you would with an exfoliant. The aim is not to drag the pores open. It is to shake them up gently to loosen their contents, so that the washing stage gets those contents out of your skin. So you put the wave onto various parts of your skin, in order to do that. Then you rinse the junk all free. If anything your aim is to open the pores as little as possible, so that once the junk is shaken out of them, they can close up to a small size.
So that this process doesn’t take all day, the wave face is relatively large – about the size of a half dollar. This is good in the sense that you can do your entire face in under 10 minutes, but bad in the sense that it doesn’t fit well in those big-pore areas along the nose. I understand this was a tough compromise for them to make. If they’d made the unit smaller, people would complain about how long it took them to get their entire face done.
I like how easily the pads go on and off the sticky face, but it seems really odd to me the pads come in a non resealable foil pouch. There’s no way at all to even “fold over the top” to keep them moist! That’s a pretty simple fix for them to have made. That being said, there’s really no way I’m going to go out and eternally buy pads for a device. I would just use cotton balls with my own Neutrogena acne soap (which I use daily and *love*). This would get me my favorite soap option along with the pore-cleansing capabilities of this device.
I really do find that this shakes loose dirt that normal cleaning cannot get to. My pores look much cleaner and smaller after using this device. I have no doubt that using this is gentle on your skin – I have rosacea and acne and my face will definitely flare if something bothers it. I haven’t had any problems with this. I wonder though if most people will have the patience to use this properly. It’s not a quick-use device. The whole way it works is to work section by section, shaking loose the dirt, cleaning out the pores in that one spot. I think most people want to do a quick pass with soap or exfoliant or whatever and get on with their life.
It’s one of those investment things. If you invest the time to keep your skin clear and healthy, it will reward you by looking wonderful and doing its job of keeping you safe from germs. If you want a quick-fix to just soap off the outer layer of grime – or exfoliate off the outer layer of skin – you won’t get the same results. So I highly recommend this as something which does take time to use, but you might be surprised at just how much better your pores are if you do invest that time and effort.
My only complaints are about the pads, and like I said, there’s a solution for that.

|THAT HEALTHY GLOW,
After fighting with the hand held wave power cleanser/massager in an attempt to install the battery (it was almost like trying to remove a “child proof cap” from a prescription bottle)I prepared for my first use of the item.
My observations are as follows:
1. The pads do not really “suds up” and left me wondering if there was actually any product in them.
2. The vibrating “massage” was pleasant enough and obviously was doing something to my skin since after the second use I noticed a breakout of a few small “pimples”.(Could it be that it cleansed impurities in my pores and brought them to the surface?).
3. After a week of use the pimples cleared up and my skin did appear to have a more refined look.
Overall I would say that the product does perform as advertised. It is a “Power Cleanser”. Do not expect that it will diminish your wrinkles or make you look like you’ve had professional skin resurfacing. What you do get using the power wave is a healthy glow from the stimulation the massager provides and a clean face. (What more could a gal ask for??)

|F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S,
This power cleanser rocks! On the package it says,” you will have smoother skin in 1 day”. And guess what… they are right. It gives you a 2 week supply of pads, the one I got at Target gave me a bonus of 2 week extra pads. I definetly notice smoother skin, but I see a glow to my once dull skin. It also helped with my acne b/c now my pores are open to have a more concentraded effect with my acne solutions acne kit form Neutrogena. Anyone who wants to brighten up their skin and help with pimples and more, should really get this power cleanser. At Target it only cost me 11.99. Neutrogena you did it again, another fabulous product. Fabulous price, for sure. A must have for all women and teens!!!

|Life Changer,
I’ve been using philosophy products for almost a year, and I’ve fallen in love with them. After reading the reviews, I thought that maybe sharing my experience would be helpful.
I’m 28 years old, and have oily, acne prone skin. I’ve been struggling with my skin since I was 13 years old, and have tried literally everything on the market.
On a whim, I bought Purity Made Simple, and noticed a difference the very first time I used it. My face felt clean…really, really clean…for the first time in ages. I had no real problems for the first few days, then around the end of the first week, I had a terrible breakout. Cystic acne, regular acne, you name it. It was awful. My first reaction was to stop using Purity, then I remembered the old adage, it gets worse before it gets better, and kept using it day and night. Keep in mind, at this time, Purity was only skin care product I used. About 10-14 days later, my skin starting looking better. My acne healed and my face looked…dare I say clear? I gradually started adding in other philosophy products and since that time, I’ve had maybe 1 pimple every 4 weeks, if that. My skin is soft, radiant, and clear. For the first time in my entire life, I can go out of the house with no makeup on. For me, it’s been a miracle.
I’ve thrown away every other product I had in the bathroom, I’m a believer. I’m a philosophy girl through and through. I can’t praise philosophy enough, and I encourage anyone to try it. Give it a chance to work, it’ll change your life.

|wish this had worked for me,
I rarely write reviews but I wanted to provide a counterpoint to some of the ecstatic reviews of this cleanser. I used it for about a week and while it made some parts of my face look beautiful and I loved the smell, it ended up giving me cystic acne like I haven’t had in years. I stopped using it two weeks ago and one of the cysts is still there.
I’m in my twenties and took Accutane as a teenager, so I’m an extreme case as far as the skin problems go. Nonetheless, if you’ve got oily, problematic skin, this may not be the solution for you. Please, get the smallest bottle before you commit to a bigger one. This stuff is too expensive to waste tons of money on if you’re not sure it won’t end up making you look & feel worse.
Loved the way it felt, loved the way it smelled, but it didn’t work out for me and the same may be the case for you.
